I don't think there's a memory leak in the maildir code. We use it
ourselves (with mysql and perl auth) and it behaves very nice:

root     31611  0.1  2.1  4008 2068 ?        S    May06   4:41
/usr/local/sbin/tpop3d -f /etc/tpop3d.conf

We are using v1.4.1.
