[Iftop-users] iftop packet parsing code

Hello. I'm working on a tool similar to iftop that will run as a KDE desktop widget. I'm interested in incorporating some of the packet parsing code from iftop, since it basically does what I need and I've been unable to find a standalone library. So my questions are do you have any objections to this? And if not, how would you like your work to be attributed? Note that I plan to release the tool as GPL v3. Thanks for your time, -Rob

Hi All As you all know a non root user can not run iftop. So the most obvious workaround is to use sudo. Now if you give a regular user sudo access he will execute. sudo iftop Once he is inside iftop. He can execute ! he will get the following promtp command > At this point a user can execute su, and he will get a root shell. He can also execute any command in privileged mode. The idea of using sudo initially was giving the user iftop access. However the user ends up with total root access. Please comment. Regards

[Iftop-users] cannot change the net filter code

Hi everybody. I am using iftop 0.17 on an openwrt router. It is really awesome. However I met the following annoying issue: in the main monitor screen of iftop, I press "f" to enter a filter, such as "not net myip". But if I made a typo, I found I could not use "backspace" on my keyboard to delete the typo.And later if I want to input a new filter, I press "f" again, then the command line on upper-left corner calls the old filter code and promoted me to input the new filter. Again, I cannot delete the old filter. I have to restart the iftop.... Is it a bug or something else? Thank you. Peng

Hello, Paul and Chris, I am the engineer from Sun Microsystem Inc. who is responsible for porting iftop to OpenSolaris Image Packaging System(IPS), I found current version(0.17) of iftop doesn't monitor IPv6 traffic. In order to help us to intergrate iftop and provide more open source content to OpenSolaris community, I have the following 3 questions: 1. Is it hard to support IPv6 for iftop ? 2.
