The default password hash type is md5.  Since you have cleartext passwords =
in=20
your MySQL db, you'll need to append the string '{plaintext}' to it.  You c=
an=20
do this by using
 CONCAT('{plaintext}',password)
in your query instead of just the password field.

As for the auth failures, it looks like the query still isn't using the ext=
ra=20
maildir column from your config.  Make sure you restart tpop3d (or run it i=
n=20
debug mode) after you make changes to the tpop3d.conf file.
