Looks to me like you have permission to read the mail drop dir but not 
the mail drop files

please do
ls -ld /home/vmail/domains/foo.com/username/Maildir
ls -l /home/vmail/domains/foo.com/username/Maildir

and mail them to me (assuming that the answer is not then obvious)

or do
chmod +r /home/vmail/domains/foo.com/username/Maildir/*
