Hi,
I have very busy mailserver so tons of logs and sometimes I need to grep ou=
t=20
all entries about one connection. Right now I can grep basing only on PID=20
number which is not unique.
That's why I'm proposing one change - add unique ID for each log line entry=
=2E=20
=46or example exim SMTP does that in this way:
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M <=3D alkh@SV8.DNSLISTS.NET H=3Dsmtp.xy=
z.pl=20
(xxy.pl) [195.245.xx.xx] U=3Dexim P=3Desmtp S=3D1174=20
id=3DE1B2KSH-0003ui-9o@SV8.DNSLISTS.NET
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M =3D> barrakuda <aaa@bbbb.pl> R=3Dlocal=
user=20
T=3Dlocal_delivery
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M =3D> | /var/admin/bin/smsinfo.pl 12121=
212=20
(barrakuda@bbbb.pl) <barrakuda@barrakuda.pl> R=3Duserforward T=3Daddress_pi=
pe
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M Completed
and I can easily grep out these entries basing on 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M.
I can cook up patch adding such behaviour to tpop3d if it's going to be=20
accepted. Comments?
