We've got about 300 users with a period in their local_part (15 of those ha=
ve=20
2 periods) and have had no complaints from any of them.  We're running tpop=
3d=20
1.5.3 on both RH9 and FC2 boxes using auth_mysql, TLS, and mass virtual=20
hosting.  Sounds like a misconfig on your part, but without more informatio=
n=20
it is near impossible to help.

Can you run the tpop3d server in debug mode and watch the output when a use=
r=20
with a period tries to login?  What is returned when you run the MySQL quer=
y=20
by hand?
