[tpop3d-discuss] Maildir auth failure - Panic mode!!

I have changed my Exim to deliver to /var/spoo/virtual/$(domain)/$(user)/Maildir
but now I am stuck. Deliveries occur normally, but authentication with tpop3d
fails.
In tpop3d.conf I have

mailbox: maildir:/var/spool/virtual/$(domain)/$(user)/Maildir/ maildir:$(home)/Maildir


When I tryto access a mailbox, I get this:

I have even changed the permissions on the Maildirs to be 775 but no luck.

Any help??
