Well the problem seemed to fix it self. I hav ebeen waiting for it to happen
to check these things but it hasn't yet now which I geuss is good.

Can you look at the .lock files which are left behind, and
grep for log entries from the PID given in the file?

tpop3d should report any crash, with a message like

    quit: signal (signal number) post_fork = (0 or 1)

Turning on verbose logging might be helpful too.

Without more information I can't help much.
