What group is your /var/mail directory assigned as? Make it assigned group=
"mail" or whatever is valid, chmod g+w it, and set tpop3d to run under=
that group. That's how I got past a similar error.

tpop3d List:

I installed, and configured tpop3d correctly. And read the README and=
INSTALL files. However, when I use it, its unable to access the mail=
files. In debug mode I get the following:

listeners_post_select: client [5]xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/com: connected
authcontext_new_user_pass: began session for `test' with pam; uid 1008, gid=
 1008
fork_child: [5]dave(24.241.116.158): successfully authenticated with pam
dotfile_lock(/var/mail/test): unable to create hitching post: Permission=
 denied
fork_child: new child is PID 8777
dotfile_lock(/var/mail/test): unable to create hitching post: Permission=
 denied
dotfile_lock(/var/mail/test): unable to create hitching post: Permission=
 denied
dotfile_lock(/var/mail/test): unable to create hitching post: Permission=
 denied
mailspool_new_from_file: failed to lock /var/mail/dave: Permission denied
dotfile_unlock(/var/mail/test): open: No such file or directory
authcontext_delete: finished session for `test' with pam

Now I tried enabling the other ways it tries locking the file I get the=
 same message everytime.

Anyone else encountered this and/or knows how to correct it? All=
 assistance is highly appreaciated.
