If you don't have any virtual email domains then the setup should be
straight forward.  You don't need to use MySQL at all - you just need to
configure tpop3d to use "auth-pam" as its authentication mechanism.

I've copied this back to the list, because I don't actually have any
experience of configuring tpop3d...

That's fine.  That's the normal setup for non-virtual email.

Fair enough :-)

I'm still searching for someone who has actively chosen to use sendmail
over the alternatives.  I used sendmail for a bit and always found it a
bit of a pain.  I then switched to Exim (via qmail) and couldn't
understand why sendmail made everything so difficult...
