[Iftop-users] what term settings do i need

Hello i am running iftop from a ssh client

instead of the curses i see the
mqqqqqqqqqqqq etc......

this is on FC4 and my $TERM is vt100.

Is  this an env setting that i am missing  or is it my client that i
have to do something with
