Thanks to everyone for working on the report - that is very impressive!
I will probably not be able to make the meeting, so wanted to tell you
my only comment. That is that I strongly oppose having a flat 6th put
in. A new ring would not be heavy and I think it is unnecessary. I
learned to ring at Solihull where they had a flat 6th put in, and we
then used it all the time instead of ringing the glorious and easy-going
back 8. The ringing worsened on the middle 8 and I think the whole idea
was flawed. I don't go with people saying that it would be easier for
learners - the bells will not be so heavy that they cannot manage
ringing slightly further round. And a slightly strange-sounding front 8
without the flat 6th is not so bad anyway!

Please find attached a copy of the report from the bells
working party.
I will bring a small number of paper copies with me to
ringing this evening in case anyone has been unable to open
the document or wants to read it there. I won't have enough
copies today to circulate the report amongst all of
the ringers.
Richard
