Subject: [Cambridge-district-bells] Cambridge District Cycle Ride and Ring

The District event for September 8th is to Cycle and Ring for the Historic Churches Trust "Ride & Stride". See http://www.cambshistoricchurchestrust.co.uk/s-c-r.htm for details of the charity and various forms you can download.

The start point is Linton Church at 9am. The ride then takes in 19 Churches/Chapels in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex over a distance of about 37 miles and ringing at 4 of the churches. Don't worry if you don't think that you can manage that distance as it will be possible to return to Linton via a shorter route. I suggest returning to Linton from West Wickham which would reduce the distance to about 26 miles although you would then miss out some Churches and one of the towers where we intend to ring. Sue intends to do the shortened route and thinks that she should get home in time to drive to Ashdon to ring then drive back home to put the kettle on for anyone who would like some tea when they finish!

If you would like to see details of the route then follow this link http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Cambridge-District-Cycle-Ride-2007

I am offering space in my garage to store bikes on Friday and Saturday nights if it would help anyones transport arrangements. If anyone wants to join in but wold have difficulty getting their bike to/from Linton than let me know and I will see if I can help out.

The ringing programme is as follows:-

Balsham 9:30-10:00
Little Thurlow 11:30-12:00
Great Thurlow 12:15-12:45
Ashdon 4:30-5:00

You are most welcome to just turn up to ring and not enjoy the cycling if you wish.

If you would like any further information then please contact me or Penny Coggill mailto:penny@coggill.com

If you are planning on coming then please let me know by email as it will be useful for me to know although it doesn't commit you in any way.
